About The Author Born in 1900, Bristol England, venturing to Australia in
1904 with her family, Bertha Powell Robertson was destined to become one of the
most gifted Trance Mediums of her time. Standing at 4’ 9”. She was the tallest, most
inspiring woman I have ever known…! She will always be part of me! Her wisdom and dexterity was evident when it came to
helping one to understand the experiences in life that one must encounter for
the growth of their Soul. Bertha Powell Bowie was my Grandmother! It was 1955, when Nana began to comprehend her destiny,
when her second marriage placed her into widowhood. I will always remember the
story she told of how she found her “path”. She said, “After Bobby died, I
was walking down Knox Street, (her home Street), wondering what was to become of
me, when I felt someone walking behind. I stepped aside to allow them to pass. I
felt a gentle brush of their presence as they passed me by, however the sun must
have been too bright, as I could not see them. As I continued walking, I looked
towards my gate, and noticed it open, I ran down to see who had entered.
There standing on the doorstep was the Gentleman or light! I didn’t
quite know what! As I ran towards the door, this light passed through the door,
imagine my surprise! I hurriedly turned the key in the door, it opened and I
stepped inside, this Gentleman was waiting for me. He smiled and said,
“Welcome Bertha. You are about to begin your journey…!” He disappeared, as
if blending into thin air! I
was shaken and yet felt an understanding deep inside me. And the rest was
history!” As it turned out this Gentleman was her Spiritual Guide
Otis. It was from that
moment forward, that my Grandmother began her steps into the Spiritual Pathway
of Teaching. Firstly came the Trance Drawings, a collection of Spiritual Art
that offers the teachings of the Christ Light. She held Meditation and Teaching
Circles at her home, went out and spoke Australia wide, world wide and taught
privately until in her nineties she passed away…! Bertha Bowie may have left the physical world, however,
her presence is still felt by the many who knew her. She was and still is a
Guide to the many students of life that are here to experience the lessons of
Earth. She will always be with me, as death is only the presence of change…! MICHELLE BOUGHEN – Granddaughter.
INTRODUCTION It gives me great pleasure to be asked to write
something about a very special lady, Mrs. Bertha Bowie, and her work as a
spiritual teacher. The old axiom is so true that when the pupil is ready the
teacher comes. Mrs. Bowie came into my life when I was searching for the next
step, for deeper understanding of the mysteries of life. That was over 40 years
ago when the Ancient Wisdom was just starting to become available to the
populace. In those days, my understanding was of basic Spiritualism a source of
great inspiration and comfort to my grieving heart. I met Mrs. Bowie through the Spiritual Church in
Brisbane where I served for over 36 years and which has a very special place in
my heart. Mrs. Bowie and her spirit teacher, Otis, brought a new dimension. Otis
taught us about thoughts and the power of thought. Yes, in today's world this
seems rather basic, but in those days these were revolutionary teachings but
they are teachings that each soul on The Path needs to understand fully. He
taught us of the colour that the vibration of thought produces and how we affect
not only others but ourselves by our thoughts. Through the instrumentality of Mrs. Bowie came the most
inspiring and magnificent drawings, which were all used as teaching tools
‑ teachings of continents long gone and civilisations and philosophies now
forgotten. These drawings comprised of colours blended to perfection and were
done in such a short period of time. Mrs. Bowie was small in stature and my memories of this
dear lady are of her carrying these large drawings to teach wherever there was
interest. Her small stature belied her great inner strength and courage. Mrs.
Bowie, I salute you for the tremendous work you have done to further the
teachings of the Ancient Wisdom amongst earth's humanity. Doris Cummins FOREWORD To
express my thoughts on paper I find more difficult than speaking, but will
commence as far as I can, the meaning of this great work. Firstly I humbly say
it is the work of a Higher Power then I, for as Jesus said, “I of myself can
do nothing, and it is the Father within me, that doeth the work.” So then did
the Master Otis come by inspiration and impression, then later by hearing his
voice loud and clear, and rich, which gave me a great and lasting pleasure to be
used as His amanuensis, for it has brought to me a greater understanding of
God’s Wisdom, and His Glorious Love for all aspects of His Creation, such as,
the importance of flora and fauna. The subjects that are touched upon through
these writings are varied and many, but commences with the Creation of the
Earth, null and void, then it touches on vegetation, the first people, Man,
Planetary, Histories of Great Men such as Moses etc, and the true life of Jesus,
many different aspects of His life. Truth
must out ere very long, when one studies, and begins to realise the working plan
of life by the Divine Architect, that Great Universal Mind of Consciousness of
Life, Light and Wisdom, of many varied patterns and designs of His handiwork,
which when fully understood, how it all fits into the whole, you will then
appreciate this great work portrayed in these, the following chapters,
containing Jewels of Wisdom from Creation to the Millennium or New Age. These
inspired writings are dedicated to Humanity, and more especially to those
sincere seekers, who are searching for the hidden spiritual verities. Seek and
ye shall find. The
Knowledge and Wisdom was received by the Author through hearing the voice of the
Egyptian Master, Otis, he takes this pseudonym. Appreciation
also extends to my very good friend Mrs. W. J. Cook, for her patience and loving
