ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mary Jane Bayliss alias ‘Yellow Flower’, was born in Birmingham England in 1963, and migrated to Australia with her family in 1965. Growing up in Morgan, a town on the River Murray in South Australia, Mary was exposed to the Australian flora, with which she fell in love, and collected in the hundreds, every type of seedpod and nut species she could find.

Many nut creations were designed from stand up ornaments through to jewelry, which then in 1979, launched the very first nut and suede jewelry in Australia.

In 1980, the first Nutman was created, in the form of an elderly man with a nut hat and a walking stick. He was called a ‘Morganite’.

This was enough to begin an amazing journey into the world that would later be filled with Nutley characters and creatures that brought joy to many people including their creator the ‘Nut Lady’.

Nut parties took off and various shops housed ‘Mary Jane’s Morganite’ collection pieces. Anything was possible for this multi talented artist, who turned nature’s gifts in to magnificent pieces of Australian Art.

At the age of 25, Mary then traveled to tropical North Queensland and stayed for a year amongst absolute paradise. Unbeknown at the time, she had begun the most amazing spiritual journey she could have ever imagined. She was encouraged to develop her natural talents and abilities, including her gifts for healing and psychic work. At this she excelled and continued to allow herself to be guided by Spirit, synchronicity and nature.

In 1989 and back in Australia, Mary experienced her first one on one ‘channelling’, and the spirit guide that came through was no other than Robert Louis Stevenson. The ‘Treasure Island’ author spoke to Mary about dreams, astral journeys and treasures, not of gold and gems, but of our true gifts that were still somewhat ‘buried’ away from humanity. The conversation they had that day was to change her life completely. He let her know, that despite her fears and doubts about herself, she was on the right track, and had the potential to write her dreams and teach what she had learned through her writing and creative expression.

Through many sessions of writing and talking with spirit, she discovered that not only RLS was accompanying her on this journey, but also the likes of Lewis Carroll and Hans Christian Andersen. With these talented energies encouraging her and pointing various things out to her through her writing, and what she then called ‘coincidence, she was slowly put on the right path for her dreams to come about. She was encouraged to speak from her heart about the truths of human magnificence and natural psychic ability.

In 1992, Mary brought forth her greatest creation, her beautiful son Calum, and another journey of a different sort began. The joys of

motherhood inspired her even more to write for children. A flood of ideas came forth and whilst Calum grew, she wrote and created many publications, one of which, she hand made and distributed herself, called The Tiny Oracle. During this time she opened a spiritual bookshop where she pursued her psychic readings and went forth to become a Reiki Master, Medium and teacher of spiritual wisdom.

Mary had been writing short stories for years, stories in verse about the Nutleys and other such things. Eventually in 2002 and back in Queensland, Mary had taught herself to work with computer graphics, the novel was written and another new path began. Mary began using her self taught skills to create her illustrations.

The synchronicities that took place during the writing of this book, made her realize that it was more than just a story. It was a very significant story that was to bring great awareness and urgently required changes to humanity at a time when it was most needed.

There is far more to life that what we are led to believe, and this book brings forth that wisdom in a beautiful way to the Indigo children that will ultimately be our future.

Now aged 42, Mary presents her first illustrated novel ‘Nutlidge’, and the first of many books to come.

The Door Opens

Sky flew along the peaceful riverbank, as the warm summer breeze swept wildly through her long hair.

She held her arms out wide and navigated the cliff face well. Past overhanging trees and exposed rock, she then took off, speeding over the treetops and into the blue above! Up she soared, faster and faster until she flew right up past the clouds. The view was incredible! A picture of another world, a cloud world surrounded her.

The scene before her took her breath away as she focused on the details for a brief moment. Clouds puffed up to look like people, landscapes and trees. To the right was a large treasure chest. Majestic, magical, and golden edged. Clouds were one of Sky’s favourite things.

Taking her mind back to the river, Sky plummeted down towards the valley again, making her take another deep breath, as her belly reeled with excitement!

This made her roll over in bed with a big smile on her face.

She slowed down a little as the water seemed to approach quickly, and she gazed around as she flew freely above the surface. She zigzagged and sprayed water with her feet skimming across the top. The unusual sensation made her laugh out loud and before she knew it, two pelicans were skimming along with her!

Across the river and sticking out of the cliff face near the water level, was a big knotty old eucalyptus tree, spread out far and wide. Sky loved these old trees and flew across the river with ease. She landed on a branch covered with beautiful patterns and big green gum leaves in a mass at the end of it.

She looked out towards the river and saw that the Australian sun was just coming up over the cliffs, showering the tree with gold light. All the colours in the patterns turned brighter autumn shades illuminating the tree. She walked down the branch, past a purple and lavender coloured Eagle that acknowledged her, then, continued preening its feathers. Her grandmother had told her once that eagles were a symbol of the Great Spirit, so she knew she was ‘on the right track’.

As Sky walked closer to the trunk, she realised that there was a door embedded into it. It was a little round-topped door, about the same height as her, and had a golden gumnut for a handle. The whole door was glowing, and Sky stood looking at it for some time.

It wasn’t the first time she had been here at this door. She wanted to open it and go through, but hesitated.

“This door is becoming very familiar to me, Eagle.” She looked at the Eagle again, and he had been watching her whilst preening his purple feathers. He was tapping at the branch he was sitting on, as if cleaning his beak. She felt confident all of a sudden.

“It’s time for me to pluck up the courage and go in! Right?” she asked firmly, but was instantly anxious at the thought of what might be behind it. Fear zapped through her, creating goose bumps on her arms, but she wasn’t going to let it stop her anymore.

Sky slowly went to grab hold of the door handle but before she touched it, the door opened itself…
