Foreword

One day after a long period of time since our last contact I decided to send Dana an email. In her reply she asked me if I would like to write an endorsement for her new book. Once more my strong belief in guidance was confirmed. I feel deeply honoured by her request and I am pleased to convey to you, the reader, my thoughts on this book.

Curious, and with great expectations, I began reading Dana’s book and found myself halfway through in no time. Zealously I made notes and marked those pages that I wanted to review. My initial enthusiasm began to converge into feeling the depth and the spirit in which Dana writes. Heart, soul and intellect seemed to mould into one entity – the great love toward humanity. With every phrase it becomes evident that she not only feels what she writes, but has to a great extent also lived and experienced it.

Dana Mrkich takes us on a journey to our ‘True Self’. She succeeds in placing us from the passenger’s into the driver’s seat. We feel the content and the power within her phrases and begin to compare her observations with our own lives. And what can be more satisfying than when the author succeeds in bringing about the feeling and perceiving of one’s own life, not superficially, but in all its dimensions?

The title of Dana’s new book, A New Chapter, could not have been chosen more appropriately. The ‘New Chapter’ of humanity is already unfolding in front of us and it is up to us to collectively write it so that it may come to a good end. A great change in Consciousness is not only necessary, but is well underway and has been for some time now. Initially slow, this change has increased in momentum in more recent times. The power of evolution, the force of nature, the resistance of Mother Earth to her abuse, and enforcement of her right of conscientious use are, of late, all proof of this development.

A few years ago a good friend of mine said to me: ‘Sometimes Earth trembles. It is then that we recall that she exists, that she is an organism like us, that she lives!’

In her book, Dana focuses her effort on indicating that, contrary to all pessimistic scenarios, we are in a position to collectively preserve and ensure the sustained development of our planet. Individual development leads to collectivity in human development. Dana brings it to the point and provides ample proof of why awareness and a new orientation of consciousness are paramount. The end of a great evolutionary cycle is near and we are all capable of moulding the new one: A New Chapter gives us valuable and workable indicators for an ‘Evolution Revolution.’

To the contents: Dana Mrkich’s chapters are carefully chosen. She leads her readers through the topics with much feeling and empathy, so that we can easily comprehend what is going on, not only in the outer but also in our own inner world. With her description of her own experiences Dana’s book achieves a high level of authenticity. A channel for Spirit in her own right, Dana encourages us to question the truth of any guidance passed on to us. Rather by encouraging the reader to self-responsibility Dana leads the human being back to himself, again and again.

With her vision for a new world, she leads us to awareness and responsibility toward Mother Earth and her resources, sensibility to the holiness of our planet and the meaning of this great gift. Dana does not provide us with a list of ‘do’s and don’ts’ but leads us to our own self. She thereby demonstrates how our collective path to wholeness may be realised. And yet, Dana encourages us to go our own way, to feel ourselves and to have the courage of being uncomfortable in so doing. To stand up to our very own truth and openly reveal it, always accepting and questioning ourselves and others, always inquiring. Dana also shows us our dark sides, how we can recognise and learn to live with them instead of ignoring them. All of this is presented very lovingly!

With concrete examples Dana describes possible means of changing consciousness. The wording has been chosen in such a familiar way so as to enable us to re-enact these examples in our own world of reality. She encourages women to unfold their natural, feminine Divinity and her words accompany us on our path to a naturally perceived enlightenment and awareness. Yes, it is a feeling of simplicity and understanding which Dana conveys to us that goes into making this book so attractive and fascinating.

For those to whom this seems to be too simple I would like to mention that Dana Mrkich writes in full recognition of the fact that each individual requires much practice in the implementation of knowledge. According to Dana, daily practice, including conscious awareness and conscious action, is important on our path in life and it can be very rewarding to find out why a particular exercise is appropriate at a given moment in time. Dana places special importance on leading us to our inner energy and trusting in our intuition in order to feel the sensation of our true, authentic self.

A New Chapter is a wonderful book encouraging us to live our dreams without forgetting our brothers and sisters, showing us that only the energy of living within generates the ability to live in peace and love with all humanity.

Introduction

A New Chapter in our evolution lies before us.

Each of us is a page in that new chapter.

This is a guide to making your page the best it can be.

Humanity is at a crossroads, and we have in front of us a choice. A new chapter in our evolution lies before us, personally and collectively. Will the title of this chapter be the destruction of humanity, or the transformation of humanity? The choice is ours, and the time to decide is now.

We all have a part to play in determining what this new chapter looks like. Each of us is a page within it, and every page has a purpose. All you have to do to make your page the best it can be is be your true self.

The times ahead are going to become increasingly turbulent as we reach the climax of our turning point, and we need a roadmap to guide us through. This book provides one, showing where we are right now, where we are going next, and how we are going to get there. It will remind you of all the tools you have within you that you can use to guide your way.

Before astronauts go to space they receive training in a simulator to prepare them for their mission ahead, familiarising them with how their new environment will look and feel. So too, this book will introduce you to what our new chapter could look like. It is your very own personal training manual to help you enter this new chapter and be your true self, doing your bit to help us all enter it. In entering it, we create it, one person at a time.

We can all feel profound changes happening within our individual lives and around the world. Events like 9/11, the Indian Ocean Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and Climate Change are uniting humanity as never before. More of us are awakening to our true selves, and to the possibility of a new reality for our planet. It feels like life as we know it is shifting rapidly, on a personal and global level. What is going on?

According to many prophecies we are coming to the end of a great evolutionary cycle. Yet the ending of this cycle represents not the end of time, rather the end of time as we know it. Our old ways of being are no longer supporting or sustaining us. A new reality, with new ways, has to be created if we are to continue enjoying life on Earth.

As we look around at the chaos, many people are shrugging their shoulders saying there’s not much we can do about it. Yet there is a growing wave among us who believe otherwise, who believe that the chaos we see is the natural falling away of a world that no longer serves us, to make way for a new world that we serve for the collective and highest good.

I believe we are seeing signs of an evolution revolution. We are awakening. We are awakening to the possibility that things could be different, if we want them to be. We are awakening to the spark of memory within us all that is urging us forward, whispering, ‘Yes, yes, this is why you are here.’

Now is the time to remember that there is a purpose for awakening that is beyond the personal. Our awakening and our life has a planetary, evolutionary purpose. It is time to remember who we really are and why we are here. It is time to make an evolutionary leap into a new experience.

One by one we can do this. Listen to your instincts. Feel your feelings. Speak your truth. Remember who you really are. Be who you came here to be. The planet and humanity need you.

Vision of a New World (Part Sample)

‘Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.’

−  Albert Einstein

There are many theories as to who we really are and why we are here. Life is like a great mystery that we are unravelling one day at a time. It reminds me of the party game ‘Pass the Parcel’ where children sit in a circle passing around a multi-wrapped present with music playing in the background. Every time the music stops the one holding the present has to unwrap a layer of packaging. With each layer unwrapped there is another layer underneath, usually revealing a cool toy or sparkly piece of jewelry. It’s a fun and exciting journey, each moment moving us closer to the brilliant gift at the core that has been there the whole time, waiting for us to discover it.

We are all on a journey, slowly finding more parts of our true self, gradually getting to the core of who we really are. If we could only live life like we play Pass the Parcel, we would have just as much fun playing the game as reaching any goals we may be striving for. In reality, however, it doesn’t always feel like that.

We are human, and as humans we are curious. We want to know how many layers of ourselves we have to explore before we come across our true selves. We have our days of enthusiastic motivation when we surge onward full of energy, and we have our days when we feel tired, frustrated and really over it. Somewhere along the way we forgot it was meant to be fun.

Somewhere along the way we took on a bunch of other people’s layers and gave away some of our own. We started to see the layers as blocks and issues covering our true self, when maybe some of them are actually part of our true self unfolding, unravelling, awakening. Have we been staring at the prize (all one hundred layers of it) all along? What is this game of life really all about, and do we ever get to find out?

Just as most of us want to know who we really are, we also want to know why we are here. What is the purpose of our existence on this planet? Do we each have an individual purpose, or are we involved in some kind of team effort helping Earth become a better place in which to live? With endless information sources available to us are we any closer to finding out the meaning of life?

‘The meaning of life is to find your gift; the purpose of life is to give it away.’  − Joy J. Golliver

Ever since I can remember I have always had a vision of a world very different to the one I grew up living in. That world felt like home to me. People acted with greater kindness and compassion there. They seemed more awake and in tune with something that I hadn’t yet observed on this planet. Life had a harmonious and flowing feel; even colour was more vivid. The buildings were built almost as an extension of their environment. The schools were full of ancient and wise teachings. The work people engaged in was more meaningful. For a long time I didn’t know if this other world that I felt so strongly and sensed so vividly existed somewhere, or if I was seeing visions of our Earth’s future and potential.

Growing up I wondered if other people had that same vision too. Something just didn’t feel right about the way things were here. I wondered why we weren’t living that vision right now as it seemed a whole lot more harmonious and functional than the current reality we were choosing.

This awareness of a greater reality at times created more confusion than clarity, and usually made me feel like I didn’t fit in anywhere. I felt like I didn’t really belong on this planet and that I had ended up here by mistake. I used to look up at the skies and feel that my true home was out there somewhere. It felt as if I had been abandoned by my real family who had come to Earth with their spaceship and then gone back home, leaving me behind. As a little girl I often wondered when they were coming back to get me! Was this the product of a brilliant imagination, cellular memory of my soul’s purpose, a prophetic vision, or wishful thinking?

I’ve always believed that the majority of humans want world peace. I believe it is the true nature of people to extend compassion and loving kindness to one other. So I was intrigued to know why we are living in a world that is filled with such personal and planetary turmoil. Perhaps it is because we have given away our power to systems and beliefs that do not serve us? Perhaps it is because we have forgotten who we really are?

Very early in life I embarked on a deep personal and spiritual journey, asking: Who are we really? Why are we here? I soaked up ancient knowledge and new perspectives from leading writers and visionaries. I explored my inner self and travelled the world to experience things first hand. Along the way I gained wisdom, humility and profound insights. It all confirmed what I already felt to be true. I saw just how much we were being controlled, lied to and manipulated by corporations, mainstream media and layers of individuals, groups and governments. As far as I could see they were trying to create a world of mind-numbed, dumbed-down, apathetic robots. Sometimes I thought they were doing a good job of it too, but something else has been confirmed to me throughout my life: the human spirit is an amazing thing.

It has an inner spark and no matter what, it seems to have this innate desire urging it to strive upward. Like a plant it wants to grow, with a natural inclination to head towards the light. No matter how much you try to repress this inbuilt inner knowing, it will always find a way to growth, to light and to truth. There is only so long you can keep this from happening. I believe that this is what is going on right now among humanity.

We only have to look around and see how people are responding to the sudden realisation that climate change is real and the war in Iraq is a sham. There is intense pressure on governments to change and to act now. We no longer automatically believe everything we hear and read. We are awakening. We want to know the truth. We are tired of being lied to and fed by some power-driven machine that has hidden agendas. We are remembering who we really are.

This is a book about empowering ourselves to be who we really are, and to use our power for good. Our ability to do this, our inclination to want to do so, is so intrinsically linked with the role media plays in our lives that I feel it’s important to take a look at the current and changing media climate.

Philosopher Jurgen Habermas, highly regarded for his ideas about equality, democracy and social justice, talks about Communicative Action: people coming together in discussion, responding to a particular crisis when society is not meeting their needs, or when institutions are manipulating individuals[1]. We can see this openly happening on the internet with sites, message boards, chat rooms and blogs serving as online activism dedicated to political, social and environmental issues. Whether written by real or ‘citizen’ journalists, we can’t ignore the message that is spreading throughout cyberspace: we have had enough, something has to change.

The internet allows for connection that is immediate, providing a tremendous potential for the empowerment of society, taking back control over our own voice and movement forward. Millions of people have marched on the world’s streets in protest about military action in Iraq, primarily as a result of the power of the internet to inspire action, with sites like MoveOn.org taking the lead. Humanity united like never before during Hurricane Katrina and the Indian Ocean Tsunami, donating more money faster than our own governments, forcing national leaders to keep up with the people. The internet, more than anything, has shown us that given the chance we want to be united with our fellow global citizens. We want to help where we can. We want exposure to as many viewpoints as possible so that we can make up our own minds about issues.
